Field Engineer - Terrestrial Hydrogravimetry
We are seeking a talented Field Engineer to join our team working on a groundbreaking EU-funded project, EQUIP-G. This project focuses on the newest technological development in gravimetry: quantum gravimeters.
About the Project:
EQUIP-G aims to set up the first network of quantum gravimeters as an infrastructure prototype across Europe. We will bring this technology to life through numerous use cases that act as a proof of concept and demonstrate its added value for research and applications.
Your Responsibilities:
* Design and Test Equipment: Design and test field enclosures, transportation units, and setups for field deployment of the quantum gravimeter systems (mechanical components, electronics, power supply, data transfer).
* Conduct Surveys and Measurements: Conduct gravimetric and hydrological surveys and field measurements.
* SUPPORT Innovative Experiments: Support the design and execution of innovative field experiments.
* Install Gravimeters: Plan and support the installation of gravimeters at hydro-meteorological monitoring stations in outdoor settings.
* ERT Devices: Assemble and use open-source/open-hardware electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) devices.
Requirements:
* Degree: Master's or bachelor's degree in engineering, geophysics, electronics, or a related discipline.
* Experience: Proven experience with electric circuit design, wiring, and proper inclusion of different electric components as well as basic electronic knowledge.
* Skills: Enthusiasm and creativity in designing and assembling measurement setups.
* Preferrably: Experience with data logger systems and sensors, microcontrollers, and programming is an asset.
* Geophysical Field Measurements: Experience with geophysical field measurements is an asset.
* Teamwork: Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, and communicate effectively with collaborators.
* Language: Proficiency in spoken and written English.
* Flexibility: Willingness to work in the field for up to 3 weeks per trip and have a valid driving license.
