Credit Analyst (m/f/d)

We are currently looking for a skilled, detail-oriented and experienced Credit Analyst to join our team in Frankfurt, Germany. As a Credit Analyst at Société Générale, you will be responsible for evaluating credit risk, conducting thorough financial analysis, and supporting prudent lending decisions. This role is ideal for professionals with 5 or more years of relevant experience in credit analysis, risk assessment, and financial statement evaluation, who thrive in a fast-paced banking environment. The role requires strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and deep understanding of credit processes to support informed lending decisions.
Aufgaben- Evaluate creditworthiness of potential and existing LargeCap and MidCap client groups domiciling in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) including their worldwide subsidiaries across various industries and sectors through financial statement analysis and assessment of business model and risk factors.
- Prepare comprehensive “ready for decision” credit reports with well-structured recommendations for loan approvals, renewals, or rejections, and suggest internal Obligor Ratings.
- Autonomously monitor, manage and regularly update an allocated portfolio of existing credit exposures, and ensure early identification of potential risks or deteriorating credit conditions.
- Work closely with Origination (Senior Bankers, Relationship Managers, Business and Product Lines), Distribution (Secondary Sales, Insurance), Risk and Compliance to structure appropriate credit solutions.
- Ensure compliance with internal credit policies, regulatory requirements, and audit standards.
- Maintain accurate credit files and documentation of credit evaluations for regulatory and internal review.
- Contribute to the optimization of processes, ensuring quality standards and improving efficiency
ProfilExperience & technical skills
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline; or, a bank apprenticeship with advanced training.
- 5 or more years of professional experience as a Credit Analyst or similar financial role at a Corporate or Investment bank.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in credit risk assessment, financial ratios, accounting rules, and forecasting.
- Familiarity with credit scoring systems and financial modelling tools.
- Know-how in innovative commercial products of corporate financing with focus on the German market.
- Fluent oral and written English and German skills is required.
Preferred additional qualifications
- Experience within a licensed financial institution or regulated banking environment.
- Past exposure to the specific challenges related to corporate and SME credit.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills, and working knowledge of credit analysis software/tools.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA, or credit risk certification) are an advantage.
