About the job
Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Munich the Director of Engineering is responsible for maintenance and all building services. The Director of Engineering reports to the general manager.
As Director of Engineering, you will responsible for the following duties:
* Overall responsibility for smooth operations in all technical areas and fire protection facilities
* Ensuring maintenance and repair work on the infrastructure and building systems in cooperation with external partners and companies
* Obtaining quotes and negotiating prices with companies for maintenance and repair work
* Ensuring the high quality of all technical matters throughout the hotel
* Ordering materials and checking invoices
* Budget preparation and responsibility for compliance with maintenance, energy and repair costs
* Analysis of consumption figures
* Monitoring energy-saving measures
* Safety instructions for employees
* Guiding and supporting the team
As Director of Engineering, we expect from you:
* At least 5 years of professional experience in the luxury hotel industry
* Management experience desirable
* Excellent knowledge of all aspects of all technical areas of a hotel operation
* Ability to prioritize and organize required to meet deadlines and complete projects.
* Experience in budget preparation
* Experience working in a multicultural environment
* Verbal and written communication skills in German and English
* Excellent leadership, organizational, planning, decision-making and analytical skills
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
* Ability to drive change in the work environment for continuous improvement
