Job Description:
METLEN Energy & Metals is launching and expanding its M Renewables Division in Germany, and we are seeking a Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer (Solar / BESS) to play a key role in establishing and delivering our utility-scale renewable energy projects across the country.This is a critical position supporting METLEN's entry and growth in the German market.
This position will report to the Commissioning Manager / Project Management Team and will work closely with Engineering, Construction, O&M, OEMs, and grid operators to ensure safe, compliant, and timely project execution.
The role will lead and manage the commissioning, testing, and grid integration of electrical systems, acting as a key technical interface throughout the commissioning phase.
Your Role Will Encompass:
* Lead and execute electrical commissioning and start-up activities for utility-scale Solar PV and BESS projects.
* Perform and supervise testing of inverters, transformers, MV/LV switchgear, protection relays, battery systems, and grid interconnection equipment.
* Support SCADA integration, signal testing, communication checks, and plant monitoring readiness.
* Ensure compliance with German and European grid codes (VDE, FGW, IEC, ENTSO-E).
* Coordinate grid compliance testing, protection validation, and approval processes with grid operators, consultants, and OEMs.
* Act as the main technical point of contact during the commissioning phase.
* Coordinate commissioning activities with internal teams and external stakeholders.
* Supervise and mentor junior commissioning engineers and site technicians.
* Identify risks and technical issues early and drive effective mitigation actions.
* Ensure all commissioning activities comply with HSE regulations and company safety standards.
* Prepare, review, and manage commissioning documentation, test reports, punch lists, and handover records.
* Lead troubleshooting activities and root-cause analysis for electrical, protection, or control system issues.
What We're Looking For:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline.
* Willingness and flexibility to travel regularly between Berlin, Bavaria, and project sites across Germany .
* 5-7+ years of experience in electrical commissioning, preferably within utility-scale Solar PV and/or BESS projects.
* Strong EPC background with hands-on experience in grid connection and grid compliance testing.
* Proven experience with SCADA systems, protection relays, and control systems.
* In-depth knowledge of German and European grid code requirements.
* Experience managing commissioning teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
* Proficiency with electrical testing and commissioning equipment.
* Fluent in English (mandatory); German language skills are a strong advantage.
