The EMEA Tax Director will lead the EMEA tax team and coordinate all Umicore tax-business partnership, compliance, and corporation tax planning matters in EMEA. The role can be based in Hanau, Germany or Brussels, Belgium.
Responsibilities:
* Lead the development of the EMEA tax team toward best practice in terms of effective ownership, cohesion, clarity of communication, pragmatism/simplification, and value impact analysis.
* Tax value creation through the sustainable maximization of tax incentives and other benefits in light of tax legislative changes and Umicore business opportunities.
* Partner with the Income Tax Reporting and Compliance Director in the digitization, continuous improvement, and maintenance of the income tax reporting and forecasting process in EMEA.
* Pro-active tax audit preparedness and management.
* Simplification and streamlining of the legal entity structure, including tax-optimized balance sheet management.
* Assist the VP Tax in the socialization, roll-out, and continuous maintenance and improvement of the Umicore Tax Control Framework in the EMEA area.
* Leadership over all tax audits in the EMEA jurisdictions.
* Coaching of the EMEA entity Finance leaders in their audit management and selection and supervision of external tax advisers.
* Initiate tax value creation actions in EMEA, track legislative changes, model their impact on Umicore’s key KPIs, and organize the Company’s preparedness for them.
* Establish and maintain a pro-active stakeholder relationship with the EMEA business partners across all Business Groups/Units.
Requirements:
* 10-15 years tax leadership experience in an in-house role, ideally in an asset-heavy industrial company on a regional level.
* Tax Law or Accounting Master (or equivalent) Degree.
* CPA / tax advisor exam preferred.
* Knowledge of financial/tax modelling; SAP and Microsoft office skills.
* Good technical knowledge of the tax laws of at least one large EMEA jurisdiction.
* IAS-12 proficiency.
* Good exposure to the EMEA transfer pricing and VAT provisions.
* Fluency in English (spoken and written) and preferably one additional European language.
* Motivated, hands-on, and results-oriented leader and team player acting with pragmatism, accountability, and integrity.
