Position summary
The Senior Financial Accountant (Tax Focus) plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of GLEIF’s financial operations. This position combines hands-on financial accounting with ownership of tax-related matters, offering the opportunity to contribute to both operational excellence and strategic financial oversight. You will work in a dynamic, international environment, partnering closely with internal and external stakeholders while helping to shape and continuously improve a high-quality finance function.
Key Responsibilities:
17. Manage day-to-day financial accounting activities
18. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and
GLEIF policies
19. Ensure compliance with all local regulatory requirements, including corporate tax, VAT and
tax-exempt status
20. Perform tax filings and coordinate with external tax advisors; act as a key contact for tax
authorities
21. Monitor tax risks and identify optimization opportunities in line with the GLEIF’s structure
22. Partner with the management team to ensure appropriate understanding of contracts and
ensure revenue recognition complies with IFRS
23. Provide financial analysis on ad-hoc projects as designated by management
24. Ensure effective internal controls and compliance with internal policies and guidelines
25. Support internal and external audits
26. Maintain and support finance-related systems
Experience and competencies for success
27. Strong accounting skills with at least 6+ years of experience in accounting, with exposure to tax matters
28. Strong knowledge of IFRS, expertise of local Swiss GAAP is a plus
29. University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or a completed vocational training in accounting or tax (e.g. tax specialist qualification), with relevant professional experience
30. Solid experience in German and/or Swiss tax compliance (corporate tax, VAT); ideally exposure to non-profit organizations and foundations
31. Experience with ERP systems (e.g. Diamant or similar)
32. Structured and reliable, with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, the ability to work independently and used to work with tight deadlines
33. Strong personal skills including social competency, as well as strong cross-functional communication and people skills
34. Fluent spoken and written English
35. Confident user of MS Office (Word, Excel)
