The Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence Lab seeks motivated candidates with a background in Computer Science (or a related discipline) for a fully funded researcher position (PhD/PostDoc) for 4 years. Our interdisciplinary team develops AI methods to analyze social signals, such as facial expressions, gaze, vocal cues, and heart rate, to improve mental health and enhance human – AI interaction. Collaborating with psychological and medical institutes worldwide, we use advanced machine learning, audio, and image processing techniques to support clinical diagnostics and behavioral research. Committed to AI fairness and explainability, we aim to create algorithms and tools that are both scientifically robust and ethically sound.

1. developing machine learning methods for analyzing interaction behavior
2. applying and/or developing multimodal algorithm for facial, vocal and gaze analysis
3. literature research at the intersection of computerscience and psychology
4. planning, conduction, and evaluation of empirical studies with human participants
5. collaboration with clinical research partners
If the position is offered to a postdoctoral researcher:
6. complex research tasks, including the development of an independent research agenda (60 %)
7. contribution to the preparation of funding applications (third-party funding management) (10 %)
Teaching duties (25 %)
8. teaching (up to 4 LVS) and supervision of bachelor/master theses or student projects
Other activities (5 %):
9. participating in administration and organization of the working group

Your Profile We expect
10. scientific university degree (completed or advanced) in computer science or a computer science-related discipline (e. g. data science, math or cognitive science)
11. additionally PhD for the postdoctoral position
12. practical experience and theoretical knowledge in machine learning, complex data mining or statistics
13. interest and passion for interdisciplinary research at the intersection of computer science and psychology
14. very good programming skills (preferably in Python)
15. proficiency in English (oral and written)
