Your area of work:
As part of Group Tax – the central tax department of Deutsche Börse Group – you will play a key role in ensuring VAT compliance across our German entities. You will drive process improvements, contribute to strategic tax initiatives, and act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders.
Your responsibilities:
1. Preparation and review of VAT returns, EC sales lists, and annual VAT declarations for German group entities
2. Strategic involvement in year-end closing processes and tax audits
3. Acting as a senior point of contact for complex VAT-related matters across the organization
4. Leading the enhancement of VAT-relevant processes and compliance tools – especially regarding input VAT allocation and automation
5. Close collaboration with internal departments (Accounting, Legal, IT) and external advisors
6. Mentoring junior team members and contributing to knowledge sharing within the tax function and with other stakeholders
Your profile:
7. Completed vocational training as a tax clerk, further qualification as a certified accountant or tax specialist, or a university degree in business administration with a focus on taxation or finance
8. At least 5 years of professional experience in VAT compliance, ideally within the financial services industry or a multinational corporation
9. Strong expertise in ERP systems and VAT compliance tools (e.g. VERA, Vertex); experience in process automation is a plus
10. Strategic mindset, strong analytical skills, and a proactive, solution-oriented approach
11. Excellent communication skills in both German and English
