Hauptaufgaben
Independently plans, lays out and performs work involved in the repair, maintenance and operation of the systems.
Troubleshoots, repairs, overhauls, modifies, tests, calibrates, and installs a variety of multicomponent, and precision measurement instruments and equipment, i.e., electric motors, pressure controls, sensors, transducers, electronic equipment, heat controls. Tests and programs electronic microprocessor by using oscilloscopes and portable programming unit. Items serviced are usually composed of a number of interdependent electrical, mechanical, or pneumatic and hydraulic subassemblies and devices with features to detect, measure, record, indicate, or regulate such elements and quantities as velocity, pressure, displacement, weight, heat, torque, resistance, voltage, and other values and relationships. Locates cable deficiencies through use of programming equipment.
Makes repairs. Troubleshoots, adjusts, aligns and tests weapon systems to required standard of technical manuals, using schematics, electronic test equipment, special tools and break out boxes (BOB). Disassembles and examine parts, assemblies, and major components for serviceability by visual inspection, feel of items being mechanical functioned. Uses depth-gauge, M-3 Borescope, micrometer, and alignment fixtures. Uses electronic test equipment such as DSESTS or NGATS, during fault isolation and testing after completed repairs of electronic components and artillery/turret systems. Utilizes schematics and flow-charts in both primary and alternate methods of troubleshooting during component and weapons system repair to isolate, test, repair, align and adjust defective systems. Ensures gun stabilization, deck clearance and fire suppression systems of Main Battle Tanks, Howitzers and other Combat Systems. Components with integrated functions consisting of electronic over hydraulic are turret distribution manifold, azimuth and elevation servo mechanism.
Detects worn or damaged parts by measuring strength of springs or dimensions of parts, or by visual checks for such things as rust, pitting, wear or damage. Assembles, adjusts, installs and aligns and. meshes; recoil system, hydraulic rammers actuators, traversing/elevation mechanism and similar major turret and hull components. Uses borescope and pullover gage to check artillery gun tubes, mortar tubes for wear or defects.
Re-tests installed or repaired equipment for proper functioning. The incumbent uses a variety of general and special purpose analyzer test stands, holding fixtures, and precision gages to test and calibrate repaired items. Works with a variety of equipment specifications, test and calibration procedures, measurement standards, and within the framework of acceptable trade practices. Performs service and refill on various fire extinguishers for vehicles and combat equipment.
When required, supports small arms inspections and repairs as well as repairs, adjustments, and testing of optical devices, and sights.
Performs motor vehicle, crane, track, and forklift operator duties.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifikationsanforderungen

Completed vocational training in the appropriate trade PLUS 2 years experience at a level of difficulty comparable to the Wage Group 5 or equivalent. The applicant must be able to perform the duties independently.

8 Jahre einschlägige Berufserfahrung von denen mindestens 3 Jahre in der Lohngruppe 5 oder vergleichbaren Tätigkeiten ausgeübt wurden.
