AI Futures are partnered exclusively with the most exciting AI startup in Germany to find a Principal RF Network & MAC Architect.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to create a new industry by building the operating system for physical-world intelligence. Funded by Tier 1 VCs the company are developing a new category of autonomous systems capable of delivering low-signature, persistent intelligence at scale, creating a programmable layer that connects the physical world to organisations and turns deployments into real insight. With initial applications in defence and long-term applications across security, infrastructure and industry, the company is at a critical inflection point.
This is a chance to get in at the perfect time, work on one of the most technically ambitious AI deployments in the world, learn from a team of A Players and exited founders, experience long-term career development and profit from the equity upside.
The Role
This role will define the foundational RF communication layer enabling coordination across distributed robots.
* You will design how autonomous agents access the medium, establish connectivity, and sustain wireless communication under conditions where classical networking assumptions break down.
* You will develop new medium access and RF coordination mechanisms that allow decentralized agents to share spectrum, organize locally, and maintain collective communication without centralized infrastructure.
* Working at the intersection of RF systems, baseband, and distributed communication algorithms, you will translate physical constraints into robust interaction rules that enable scalable swarm behavior.
* You will design communication models that operate reliably on highly constrained hardware and directly support system-level swarm intelligence.
* You will work closely with embedded, baseband, and autonomy teams to integrate communication, sensing, and collective behavior.
Criteria
* 8+ years of experience in wireless communication systems, RF networks, or medium access protocol design (industry only)
* Strong understanding of radio systems, baseband processing, and wireless network architecture
* Experience designing or working with MAC protocols, distributed communication systems, or wireless coordination mechanisms
* Experience developing systems where constraints such as bandwidth, synchronization, energy, or interference drive design decisions
* Experience working close to hardware realities (embedded systems, RF hardware, baseband, or low-level networking)
* Ability to reason across system layers — from physical RF constraints to network and system behavior
* Comfortable operating where existing standards are insufficient and new communication models must be developed
* Mindset: mission-driven, intellectually curious, resilient, collaborative, and comfortable with ambiguity
