The Mission OroraTech, based in Munich, is building a constellation of nanosatellites with thermal infrared cameras for wildfire detection, infrastructure monitoring, and other applications. To support this mission, we are looking for DevOps Engineers with real-world experience to design, implement, and maintain the infrastructure at the core of our customer facing Wildfire Solution platform. You’ll help keep our systems reliable and scalable across space and ground, improving our ability to monitor and respond to wildfires worldwide. With our own satellite constellation (OTC-P1 launched in 2025-03) we aim to expand our DevOps Team responsible for maintaining and operating the data platform. What you’ll be doing For our cross-functional infrastructure and operations team, we’re seeking someone who is proactive, organized, and able to drive the development and optimization of our infrastructure with a holistic mindset. Infrastructure & Architecture: Implement, monitor, and run scalable, highly available systems in the cloud and hardware‑in‑the‑loop lab environments. Use infrastructure‑as‑code to create and maintain environments and run data stores (databases, S3) tuned for performance and reliability. Operations & Reliability: Set up, operate and maintain software components, monitoring and logging (ELK, Grafana, Prometheus) to meet SLOs. Advocate for best practices and ensure operational excellence, responding quickly to high-impact issues and bugs. Compliance & Security: Prepare OroraTech for certifications (e.g. FedRAMP, SOC 2, ISO, ESA CCM) by leading gap assessments, implementing controls, and maintaining audit‑ready documentation. Build and operate security‑focused infrastructure and processes to achieve certification readiness, and keep audit‑ready documentation. Develop OroraTech’s Trust Center, ensuring transparency and reliability for customers and partners. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to evaluate customer security and compliance requirements, derive internal measures, and simplify processes while strengthening overall platform stability. Collaboration & Process: Collaborate closely with development, QA as part of product teams to integrate DevOps practices throughout the organization. Contribute to CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI), ensuring seamless code deployment and robust test automation. Document infrastructure, tools, and processes thoroughly, fostering knowledge sharing and consistency. Relevant Skills We expect that you bring the following: Real-world experience managing production grade infrastructure under real-world load conditions. Advanced Linux knowledge for system configuration, networking, and packaging (Docker, Nix). Expertise with major cloud platforms and container orchestration and Infrastructure as Code. Experience with security and compliance frameworks (e.g. FedRAMP, SOC 2, ISO, ESA CCM) and readiness to support audits. Understanding of load balancing, scalability mechanisms, and best practices in security. Familiarity with Git-based workflows and continuous integration/delivery pipelines (GitLab CI). Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python) to automate operational tasks. Strong problem solving capabilities & proactive communication in a ticket-based, agile software development environment.
