The Product Development Scientist will be responsible for transferring new formulations from development into pilot scale and successfully scaling them up to production, ensuring a first time-right approach to scalability. Working closely with the theoretical formulation team and the production department, this role plays a critical part in supporting the growth of our softgel business in Germany. This position is based in Pritzwalk, Germany, where our production site is located.
The Role/Responsibilities:
Conducting laboratory experiments and coordinating, running, and assessing pilot-scale trials for transfer to production
Optimization of existing formulations to improve process capability
Creation of manufacturing instructions for new products and maintenance of existing instructions within the current portfolio
Supporting the customer offer process through theoretical product development
Creation, editing, adaptation, and approval of batch-related documents
Planning, organization, execution, and documentation of development projects through production readiness
Review and evaluation of supplier specifications for raw materials
Profile/Requirements:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in pharmacy, Food Technology, Food Chemistry, Food Engineering, Food Management, or a related discipline, with experience in the pharmaceutical and food industries
Strong problem-solving mindset and motivation to contribute to innovation and continuous improvement
Experience in soft gelatin capsule production is an advantage
Proficient in MS Office applications as well as ERP and CRM systems
Highly precise, conscientious, and systematic approach to work
Independent, responsible, and reliable working style
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Confident in presenting technical updates to customers, partners, and internal stakeholders
Fluency in German and English are required; any other European language is a plus
Ability to travel when required
