Double Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Earn two fully recognized qualifications: Bachelor of Engineering & Industrial Mechanic (m/w/d)
With a KIA study, you will obtain two fully recognized educational qualifications, namely the Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and the IHK certificate / Master craftsman as Industrial Mechanic (m/w/d).
The 4.5-year study program at the University of Bochum takes 8 semesters to complete and consists of two parts:
1. Four semesters at the Heiligenhaus campus
with parallel training in the workshop and IHK exams I and II
2. Five semesters at the Bochum campus
with concurrent deployment as a work student
- in the technical department of the main office or
- in a branch of the largest European limestone quarry in Flandersbach
In your training as an industrial mechanic, you will learn how to preventively maintain and repair machines and equipment. You will understand how to adapt plants to new conditions, disassemble, repair and assemble them, and how to eliminate errors and disruptions.
As a graduate of the KIA study program, you will have a clear advantage over conventional engineers because you are familiar with the challenges of manual workers and understand their language.
Requirements for a successful KIA study
* Very good grades in mathematics and physics in high school
* Abitur or higher education entrance qualification
* High concentration ability, time management and self-discipline
* Technical understanding and craftsmanship, preferably proven in school or private environment
