We are seeking a highly motivated Principal Scientist in Cardiovascular Research to lead a team of Research Assistants and to collaborate with highly skilled experts from various disciplines with the goal to convert innovative ideas into potent drugs by applying cutting‑edge science.

Tasks & responsibilities
* In your new role you will take on the leadership of an in vitro pharmacology laboratory and manage a team of highly skilled Research Assistants.
* In addition, you will be responsible for the scientific identification and validation of novel therapeutic approaches to treat cardiovascular diseases and oversee late‑stage project phases.
* You will develop and implement cutting‑edge methods and technologies to continuously advance drug discovery.
* With your expertise, you will lead drug discovery projects in a matrix organization and collaborate closely with disciplines such as medicinal chemistry, biologics development, and other supporting functions.
* Furthermore, you will identify and leverage external collaboration opportunities that strengthen the department’s research and contribute to the evaluation of licensing opportunities.
* Finally, you will promote scientific exchange by publishing papers and presenting research findings at international conferences.
Requirements
* Doctorate degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular pharmacology or related disciplines with expert knowledge in cardiovascular biology
* Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or long‑term professional postdoctoral experience, including leadership experience
* In‑depth understanding of drug discovery process
* Demonstrated track record of publications in scientific journals
* Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
* Independent, goal‑oriented and pro‑active working attitude, flexibility as well as innovative thinking and problem solving
* Fluency in English spoken and written; German is a plus
