In this role, you are responsible at PAYBACK for data-driven projects in Germany, Poland, Italy, and Austria. On the one hand, you develop cloud data products on GCP and take care of existing on‑premise systems (Oracle Exadata); on the other hand, as a team lead you are responsible for leading the Data Engineering team, including project coordination and ensuring the achievement of objectives.
YOUR TASKS
1. You design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes on GCP
2. You take on the functional and disciplinary leadership of the Data Engineering team and actively support the targeted development of team members
3. You optimize the efficiency and performance of data processing using modern tools and techniques
4. You collaborate with Data Scientists and Analysts to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
5. You are responsible for ensuring compliance with data quality standards and best practices
6. You implement data governance policies and procedures to protect sensitive data
7. You are involved in driving and supporting the migration of existing on‑premise data products to the cloud (GCP)

YOUR PROFILE
11. You have several years of solid professional experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role and already possess leadership experience
12. You have very strong technical skills in Python, SQL, and cloud platforms (GCP preferred)
13. You have excellent communication skills and are able to convey complex topics in a clear and understandable way
14. Strong analytical skills, a structured way of working, and a proactive approach to solving complex problems set you apart
15. You are able to work independently as well as part of a cross-functional team
16. You have a passion for data-driven innovation and are committed to delivering high-quality results
17. Fluent English skills and (ideally) existing German skills round off your profile
