Seeing beyond - future of medical technology
For more than 100 years, ZEISS medical technology has been driving progress in ophthalmology and microsurgery. In ophthalmology, our solutions help to maintain and improve people's vision at every stage of their lives. In microsurgery, our solutions enable targeted interventions on diseased tissue so that small and sensitive organs continue to function optimally.
Medical technology from ZEISS supports medical professionals in improving the lives of patients worldwide. The fact that our actions have a direct impact on people's well-being is what drives us every day.
Your Role
1. You design and develop electronic and embedded system architectures in compliance with applicable regulatory and medical device standards, working in interdisciplinary teams (e.g., systems, mechanics, software)
2. You develop, optimize, and maintain analog and digital circuits across the entire product lifecycle
3. You evaluate and ensure the technical maturity, performance, and feasibility of electronic solutions and technologies
4. You define, maintain, and manage system requirements as well as verification and validation (V&V) specifications
5. You plan, execute, and document design verification & validation activities, including reliability and environmental testing
6. You develop, commission, and qualify test equipment and fixtures, and coordinate external test laboratories (e.g., EMC, electrical safety)
7. You ensure compliance by preparing and maintaining technical documentation in accordance with relevant standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., IEC 60601)
8. You support product industrialization and transfer to manufacturing, including supplier coordination and technical oversight
9. You collaborate closely with embedded software teams (e.g., microcontrollers, FPGAs) and support troubleshooting during commissioning and in production
Your Profile
10. You hold a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a comparable field
11. You bring in profound experience in electronics development for complex products, including schematics design, component selection, design reviews, and documentation
12. You have a strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design, including basics in power electronics and signal integrity
13. You possess hands-on laboratory experience with common measurement equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers) and in debugging mixed-signal systems
14. You are comfortable working in interdisciplinary teams and are able to communicate technical concepts and trade-offs clearly
15. You have business fluent English skills (written and spoken) and good German language skills
Ideally, you also have
16. Experience in regulated product development (preferably medical devices), including design controls, risk management, and traceability
17. Experience with high-precision measurement systems, optics-related electronics, low-noise analog design, or high-speed data acquisition
18. Knowledge in areas such as motor control, LED/laser driver concepts, or precision timing and synchronization
