About this role As an Operations Research (OR) Scientist, you will be a developing professional focused on building skills and expertise to support the optimization engine that powers our global delivery network. Your mission is to apply practical knowledge to build and maintain mathematical models and algorithms that match couriers to orders. You will work independently with general supervision to plan your own work, while actively seeking guidance from more experienced team members to solve real-time logistics challenges. These are some of the key components to the position: Algorithm Development: Learn and follow established practices to implement mathematical models and algorithms. You will contribute to algorithm development efforts (e.g., heuristics, Mixed Integer Linear Programming) and stay informed about new methodologies to enhance performance. Production Integration: Support the deployment and integration of OR approaches into the company’s technological infrastructure, utilizing cloud systems and event stores. You will learn how to maintain production systems to ensure they run smoothly. System Optimization: Identify technical improvements based on real-time system observations or experimentation, and help plan actions to keep algorithms running efficiently. Data Analysis: Grasp complex information from large-scale geospatial data sources and summarize it in an actionable, focused manner to derive recommendations for optimization. What will you bring to the team? Professional experience in Operations Research or a related field. Practical knowledge of OR techniques and the ability to explain the consequences of using different approaches (e.g., metaheuristics vs. exact approaches). Experience with Java. Knowledge of Python is a plus. Understanding of efficient data structures and deployment pipelines. Willingness to learn GitHub workflows, containerization, and cloud environments (e.g., Google Cloud, AWS). A focus on high-quality processes, documenting them clearly, and learning best practices from peers.
