At IBA, we are driven by one mission: to fight cancer through advanced proton therapy. As a global leader in proton therapy solutions, we design and deliver innovative technologies that help treating patients with greater precision while reducing side effects. In partnership with the Spanish Ministry of Health, and with the supportand funding of the Amancio Ortega Foundation, we are contributing to the expansion of proton therapy in Spain, helping make proton cancer treatment more accessible to patients.
We are now looking for talented candidates to join us in an exciting journey in San Sebastian. This opportunity is more than a job : it is a chance to contribute directly to a technology that changes lives.
We are seeking passionate, technically minded profiles who are motivated by challenges and meaning ful impact. Our ambition is to build a strong, cohesive team that will carry out at least two consecutive installations in Spain: a first one in San Sebastian, followed by a second project at another Spanish site. Our HR team will support you in your relocation to your second location.
Each installation project will last approximately 15 months, structured as follows:
1. 3 months of comprehensive training to fully immerse you in IBA values, our technology and our system
2. Followed by the installation phase of the equipment, where you will actively contribute to deploying proton therapy systems on site

Challenges we trust you with
As Beam Physics Service Engineer, you are responsible for:
3. Participating in the installation of a broad range of IBA equipment and technical tools on the ProtonTherapy site with a specific focus on beam-related equipment
4. Performing the beam-related equipment calibration following procedures
5. Operating the system (understanding the software/hardware architecture of the system and the PT center components) in order to obtain a beam that matches the requirements
6. Setting and aligning Dosimetry tools
7. Critically analyzing a large amount of data to diagnose potential technical issues
8. Testing and validating the equipment according to the specifications and ensuring the customer requirements are met in terms of compliance, quality, technical performance and timing
9. Managing all aspects of beam-related commissioning activities: Pencil Beam Scanning (PBS) etc.
10. Troubleshooting the equipment
11. Ensuring the highest quality of state-of-the-art technologies and services
What we value
You have:
12. A Master degree or PhD in Physics or engineering
13. An experience in High Energy Physics, Particle Accelerators or Medical Physics is a strong asset
14. A hands-on experience is an asset
15. Good knowledge of MS Excel, Python and data acquisition scripting
16. The ability to troubleshoot large system issues
17. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Spanish is a huge asset.

24. A flexible person, willing to work in rotating shift work, night work and weekends (up to 50% of your time)

Compensation
“The total guaranteed annual compensation range (which includes annual base salary, as well as flexible budget if applicable) for this position is provided below:
Total gross guaranteed annual compensation range: 33900-51400 €
The salary range indicated above is provided in compliance with applicable pay transparency requirements and reflects the typical compensation scope for this position based on the role's level of responsibility, required expertise, and location. The actual offer will be determined on an individual basis, taking into account objective and gender-neutral factors including relevant professional experience, qualifications, specific competencies, and internal equity. The range does not constitute a guaranteed salary and is subject to adjustment based on the final assessment of the selected candidate's profile. The role might also qualify for additional compensation elements such as variable pay, profit sharing, and benefits which are not reflected in this range.”
