Director / Vice President Business Development – Japan Market (gn) Lead Proteros’ business development strategy and activities in the Japanese pharma and biotech markets. Identify, qualify and convert new business opportunities into long-term and strategic partnerships. Build and maintain strong relationships with senior scientific and business stakeholders, including CXO level executives, Heads of R&D and other key decision makers. Identify and position opportunities for stand-alone and integrated discovery programs across Proteros’ full service portfolio. Develop and grow multi-project collaborations and long-term strategic partnerships aligned to customer needs in Japan. Represent Proteros at relevant industry conferences, events and customer meetings across Japan. Develop and execute account plans that drive sustainable business growth and long-term customer engagement. Collaborate closely with scientific and commercial leadership to support proposal development, project strategies and commercial planning. Work seamlessly with internal teams in Munich to ensure consistent project scoping, pricing, onboarding and delivery. Lead commercial negotiations and contribute to structuring of complex partnership models. Your mission As the Business Development Director, you will: Drive Proteros’ market presence in Japan by identifying and securing strategic partnerships. Create and execute a forward-looking account strategy. Maintain a robust network within the Japanese life sciences ecosystem. Negotiate and finalize partnership agreements. Your profile 5 to 15 years of business development experience, ideally with at least 5 years in the CRO or drug discovery industry. Degree in a life sciences discipline. Extensive network in the Japanese life sciences ecosystembiotech, pharma, venture capital). Deep understanding of early drug discovery, structural biology, proteins, biophysics, screening and integrated programs. Strong strategic mindset and excellent commercial judgment. Proven record of winning new business, territory development and partnership building. Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and negotiation skills. Fluency in Japanese and English. Willingness to travel internationally to Japan and Munich. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Position can be field based from anywhere in Europe; Munich preferred. Why us?
