We, the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD, are looking for a student assistant for our Competence Center "3D Printing Technology" to join our team in the field of software development.
The Competence Center "3D Printing Technology" researches and develops software solutions in the field of graphical 3D printing and multi-material 3D printing. A core element of our work is the 3D printer driver Cuttlefish which prepares data for 3D printing to achieve the optimal color reproduction. In addition, we develop data-driven design software to establish a digital process with additive manufacturing in the field of prosthetics. Most related to this position is Cuttlefish::Web, a browser-based frontend and backend, developed in JavaScript, proving a user-friendly graphical user interface for Cuttlefish. Therefore, you should bring knowledge in JavaScript, CSS and HTML.
Be part of change
Depending on your knowledge and skills, you will support our department in day-to-day software development tasks for Cuttlefish::Web and beyond. This can be testing releases, creating automated tests, creating documentation, automating tasks or implementing small features and bug fixes.
What you contribute
• Enrollment as a student at a university or college in the field of computer science or similar
• Recent hands-on experience with modern web development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, especially React.js and Node.js
- Demonstrated through previous employment or substantial project work (basic tutorials or introductory exercises do not qualify)
- Must be within the past 2 years
• Basic knowledge of software version control (especially Git)
• Good written and spoken English skills
• A conscientious and structured way of working

The weekly working time is 10-20 hours. The position is initially limited to three months, an extension is intended.
