FaradaIC Sensors
Systems Engineer
Inserat online seit: 26 Juli
Beschreibung

About Us

FaradaIC Sensors GmbH develops advanced miniaturized electrochemical gas sensors on chip. Our mission is to revolutionize sensor technology by delivering innovative, reliable, and ultra-compact solutions across industries. We design sensors that are not only highly sensitive and selective but also power-efficient and scalable.

We are a fast-growing deep-tech startup based in Teltow (Berlin area), with an international, hands-on team and strong R&D presence in both Germany and Serbia. Our working culture emphasizes autonomy, ownership, and collaboration between hardware, software, and materials science teams.

The Role

We are looking for a mid-to-senior level R&D Systems Engineer to own and evolve our experimental lab setups, including high-precision gas sensor testbeds and custom lab automation systems. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys combining mechanical, electronic, and software elements to build custom automation solutions in a research setting.

You’ll work closely with both the CTO and our R&D teams in Teltow and Belgrade, supporting ongoing experiments and prototyping while ensuring the smooth operation and extension of our test infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

* Design, build, and maintain custom experimental setups for sensor testing and calibration
* Adapt and upgrade commercial lab instruments for custom experimental workflows
* Develop mechanical parts (CAD modeling, fabrication, integration)
* Design and assemble electronic subsystems (PCB layout, soldering, sensors, actuators)
* Write control and automation software (e.g., Python, C#, microcontroller firmware)
* Support local lab automation tasks (e.g., robotic actuators, valves, heaters, data logging)
* Collaborate with researchers to tailor setups to experimental needs
* Optimize data flow and integrate testbed outputs with internal databases
* Troubleshoot and service lab equipment and document systems for maintainability

Ideal Background

* Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
* 5+ years of hands-on experience in R&D lab environments or experimental system design
* Proven ability to work “across the stack” – mechanics, electronics, and software

Experience with

* CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360)
* PCB design and low-noise analog electronics
* Programming for automation and data acquisition (e.g., Python, C#, firmware)
* Microcontrollers and embedded systems
* Databases (e.g., SQL, InfluxDB, or similar) for storing and querying sensor data
* Experience with automated measurement systems and system commissioning
* Strong debugging, prototyping, and hands-on problem-solving skills
* Comfortable working independently and managing multiple technical interfaces

Nice to Have

* Familiarity with high-precision/low-noise measurement systems
* Background in semiconductor instrumentation or similar lab tools
* Previous experience working in a research lab or deep-tech startup

What We Offer

* A chance to own critical infrastructure in a hardware deep tech company
* A full-time position based in Teltow (occasional travel to Belgrade)
* Competitive salary and participation in the company’s ESOP
* Collaborative work with a multidisciplinary international team
* Relocation assistance and support (if needed)
* Opportunities for professional development and long-term career growth

Who You Are

You’re a resourceful builder with a passion for turning ideas into real-world systems. You enjoy working with your hands and your brain, juggling software and a soldering iron, and you're comfortable in a research setting where no two setups are the same. You bring creative problem-solving and attention to detail to every project, and you're ready to become the go-to person for all things experimental hardware.
