About this Position
Within the Henkel Global Law Group, Intellectual Property serves to protect Henkel’s new technical ideas and to defend against third-party claims asserted against Henkel innovations. This includes all facets of industrial property protection, ranging from innovation consulting to ensuring and enforcing intellectual property rights, thereby creating a secure legal framework for Henkel.
We are looking for an experienced Patent Counsel (d/f/m) to manage the dynamically growing IP portfolio in the technological fields of Engineering/Packaging, Digitalization, and Product Designs.
What you´ll do
* Interesting and diverse work in an internationally positioned team, with a focus on drafting new filings and conducting patent grant
* Opposition and appeal proceedings, including the associated negotiations with patent offices, courts, and competing companies
* Enforcement of IP rights and development of long-term IP strategies, including advising the business units
* Close collaboration with the patent attorneys engaged abroad
* Support of technical innovations that are important for our company and close cooperation with the R&D departments
* Supporting and advising our inventors in all matters of industrial property protection
What makes you a good fit
* Successful degree in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or another engineering discipline
* At least 8 years of proven knowledge and experience in patent and design law: qualification as a European Patent Attorney (EQE) and/or national admission
* Solid knowledge in the areas of Engineering, Packaging Technology, Telecommunications, IT and Digital/Internet of Things, as well as relevant experience with Open Source technologies and legal issues relating to standard licenses (FRAND)
* Interest in legal issues; curious, open-minded personality with a thorough working style
* Analytical thinking and the ability to structure complex scientific matters and present them in an understandable way
* Enjoy working in an interdisciplinary team with constant exposure to the latest research results
* High performance and willingness to learn, strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as business-fluent English skills
