Bioinformatician/ Computational Biologist (m/f/d)
At targenomix you have the unique opportunity to be part of cutting-edge projects in a highly skilled, motivated, and dedicated team and contribute directly to data-driven discovery of new crop protection solutions. We are looking for a curious, motivated scientist who enjoys solving translating complex biological data into actionable outcomes.
In this position you will join an interdisciplinary team composed of molecular biologists, domain experts in plant physiology, mass-spectrometry and omics-data analysts, as well as machine-learning experts. You will work in close collaboration with different members of other Bayer entities and academic institutions.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, implement, and maintain bioinformatics pipelines to analyze and interpret omics-data in order to drive mechanistic insights leading to the development of safe plant protection products:
* Optimize and develop omics data (transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics) analysis workflows
* Leverage (un-) supervised machine learning approaches to discover biologically relevant patterns associated with Modes-of-Actions, target identification and Toxicity endpoints
* Utilize multivariate statistics, data visualization techniques to analyze and interpret complex biological data
* Independently plan, analyze, interpret your data, develop best practices, and define data-analysis workflows
* Communicate and report findings, results, analyses, and future direction to project partners, participate in the design and execution of experiments, data analysis, and the dissemination of results.
* Actively collaborate within the systems biology and omics teams at targenomix and within global communities within Bayer
* Participate in project meetings and active scientific exchange with internal and external scientific communities.
WHO YOU ARE
Education:
* PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, data science, or related disciplines
Skills:
* Minimum 1 year of experience in academic, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology settings
* Programming skills in R and/or Python
* Familiar with visualization of high dimensional data
* Utilize (un-) supervised machine learning techniques to analyze and interpret complex biological data
* Experience in high throughput omics data analysis
* Good understanding of the underlying biological system and interest in interpreting the data in its biological context
* English verbal and written communication skills and collaborative spirit
* You are a team player as you will work in a young and professional team with a highly diverse scientific background. Therefore, good interpersonal skills along with a cooperative work attitude and a high degree of motivation are essential.
