Data Engineer Consumer Health Cluster Germany/Austria (all genders)
The Data Engineer (all genders) will play a crucial role in the Commercial Business Development, Insights & Analytics Unit by designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and architectures as well as building a robust data model.
This position aims to ensure the availability and quality of data for analytics and reporting, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization. The Data Engineer (all genders) will collaborate closely with data analysts, scientists, data platform team as well as other IT functions and other commercial stakeholders in to support analytics initiatives
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* You design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines and fit-for-purpose data models to facilitate the collection, transformation, and storage of data from various internal and external sources
* You collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements as well as data requirements, ensuring that the data architecture aligns with business goals and data platform best practices
* Monitoring and optimizing data systems for performance, reliability, scalability, and costs is your responsibility, following dev/ops standards and ensuring high availability of data
* You implement data quality checks and validation processes to maintain data integrity and accuracy, and you contribute to general data governance initiatives
* You develop and maintain dev/ops pipelines and the source code repository. Documenting business processes, data models, data flows, and ETL logic to ensure clarity and knowledge sharing is part of your responsibility
* You collaborate with the platform team and core data asset teams regarding life-cycle changes, platform requirements, and best practices, as well as topics related to the data life cycle and data quality
* Conducting troubleshooting and resolving data-related issues is part of your role, and you provide support to users and stakeholders as needed
* You stay updated on technologies used, new features, and best practices in data engineering to continuously enhance data processes and systems
WHO YOU ARE
* You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Data Science, or a related field. Alternatively, you have significant relevant experience and ongoing education in the field. Holding a Master's degree is a plus
* You bring several years of experience in data engineering or a related field, with a strong focus on data pipeline development, data warehousing, and data management
* Experience working within the OTC or FMCG/CPG environment is a plus
* You are proficient in data modeling, Python programming (e.g., PySpark), and SQL, and you are experienced with data lakes using Delta, Iceberg, and Parquet formats. Experience with relational databases like MS-SQL is a plus
* You demonstrate strong knowledge of the Azure technology stack, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Gen2, and Azure Databricks (medallion architecture using DBX clusters/notebooks or equivalent experience with Spark and Databricks SQL). Familiarity with Azure Synapse is a plus
* You are experienced in CI/CD processes and tools, including branching strategies, GitHub VCS, GitHub Actions, and Azure DevOps Pipelines
* You have expertise in Azure Analysis Services and Power BI, and you demonstrate strong skills in DAX, Power Query, data analytics concepts, data modeling techniques, and in creating impactful reports and dashboards
* You show excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills in both German and English, and collaborating effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders is part of your responsibility
