Berlin Metropolitan School (BMS), a nationally accredited and internationally oriented K-12 school in the heart of Berlin, is seeking a Communications Manager to lead and develop our internal and external communications.
This position is a maternity leave cover starting 1 August 2026 for a minimum of one year, with the possibility of extension depending on organizational needs.
In this role, you will play a key part in shaping how our school presents itself to the world. You will manage BMS’s brand identity across digital and print channels and ensure that our messaging reflects the vibrant and diverse nature of our international community.
Working closely with the Head of School and cross-departmental teams, you will create engaging content, strengthen our digital presence, and help communicate the stories that make BMS a unique place to learn and work.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
* Manage and develop the BMS brand identity and visual communication across digital and print channels.
* Maintain and further develop the school’s online presence, including the website and social media channels.
* Create, edit and publish marketing materials, digital content and publications.
* Design and produce high-quality visual materials for both digital and print formats, ensuring a consistent and professional brand appearance.
* Coordinate and oversee design and communication projects with external service providers such as graphic designers and photographers.
* Promote and document school events, programs and community activities, including basic photo documentation.
* Maintain and update the school website (TYPO3) and ensure consistent content quality.
* Monitor BMS presence on relevant national and international platforms.
* Support communication requirements related to accreditation processes and institutional partnerships.
* Collaborate closely with school leadership and internal teams on communication initiatives, presentations and campaigns.
* Ensure that all communication activities and materials comply with applicable data protection regulations (GDPR) and internal policies.
* Degree in communications, marketing, design, public relations or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
* Professional experience in communications, marketing or brand management
* Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently
* Excellent written and editorial skills in English (native or near-native level)
* Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital communication strategies
* Strong graphic design skills with experience in both digital and print media
* Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator and InDesign
* Experience with design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud
* Basic knowledge of content management systems (e.g. TYPO3) or willingness to learn
* Good understanding of data protection principles (GDPR) and a high level of awareness for handling sensitive data in a compliant manner
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
* Proactive, reliable and solution-oriented working style
* Interest in education and enjoyment in working within a school community
