Our client who is a global engineering consultancy are looking for a Capital Project Procurement Manager to join their team working on a very exciting pharmaceutical project in Wuppertal, Germany.
This is a full time contract working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. 4 Days on site, 1 day working from home. This would be ideal for somebody who lives local as travel& accommodation will not be provided by the client. 12 month contract with opportunity to work on other projects afterwards.
Key responsibilities:
* Work with project teams to understand project scope, timeline, and responsibilities.
* Create the project procurement and contract management plans.
* Estimate costs and build project budgets.
* Define the procurement strategy (how and when to source suppliers and contractors).
* Decide the best contracting approach (e.g., EPC, design & build, traditional construction).
* Lead supplier pre-qualification, tendering, and bid evaluations.
* Manage large tenders and coordinate with engineering, finance, legal, HSE, and project teams.
* Negotiate pricing, schedules, scope, and contract terms with suppliers and contractors.
* Manage contracts and ensure suppliers deliver as agreed.
* Track supplier performance from contract award through project completion and warranty.
* Benchmark costs and analyze pricing to ensure competitiveness and value for money.
* Control project costs, forecasts, and risks before and after contracts are signed.
* Build and deliver savings plans through cost reduction, value engineering, and strong negotiations.
* Manage change orders and assess their impact on cost, schedule, and scope.
Requirements:
* Background: Strong experience in Engineering and/or Contracts Management on large capital projects valued at USD $50M+.
* Must be fluent in both English and German - NON NEGOTIABLE
* Technical Skills: Proficient in digital procurement and project management systems such as Coupa, Ariba, Autodesk, and enterprise ERP platforms.
* Experience Level: Extensive hands-on delivery and leadership experience, typically 20+ years working on complex, large-scale capital projects.
* Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Procurement & Supply Chain Management, or Quantity Surveying.
* Certifications: Professional certifications such as CIPS or PMP are highly desirable.
