Your Role
As a Senior Technologist / Scientist in the Analytical Research Center – Mass Spectral Information (ARC/MSI), you will play a key role in operating, maintaining, and advancing state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation to support R&D and customer projects across Symrise divisions—primarily within the Food & Beverage sector—by delivering high-quality data, developing innovative methods, and fostering global collaboration.
* Operate, maintain, and support mass spectrometry instruments and complex instrument combinations in the ARC/MSI laboratory.
* Perform advanced sample preparation, method development, and method validation.
* Analyze and interpret analytical data, prepare reports, and communicate findings to project partners and stakeholders.
* Provide technical support to other R&D and cross-divisional teams, especially for unique sample preparation or analytical challenges.
* Supervise and support R&D projects in collaboration with other project managers.
* Conduct customer presentations, site visits, and guided tours to highlight Symrise’s analytical capabilities.
* Align and collaborate with Symrise’s global analytical network, including teams in Holzminden, Rennes, and Elven.
* Midterm: assume leadership responsibilities for the ARC/MSI team (2 laboratories, 6 employees).
About You
* Master’s degree or PhD in Chemistry, Food Chemistry, or Analytical Chemistry.
* Strong background in food chemistry and/or analytical chemistry is preferred.
* Hands-on experience with advanced analytical techniques, especially GC-MS and LC-MS.
* Proficient in data interpretation, method development, and documentation.
* Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
* Team player with a proactive mindset and the ability to lead and mentor others.
* Fluent in English and German; French is a plus
