Full-Stack Software Engineer | AI Accelerated | (m/f/d) Munich, Germany (hybrid) Employee Software development $60,000 to $90,000 / year Join us in building the AI platform for the public sector The public sector is under enormous pressure: increasing demand, a shortage of skilled workers, complex processes, and growing expectations from citizens. Many administrations fail not because of a lack of will, but because of systems that were never built for this reality. We are changing that. With Merlin, we develop AI-native products that relieve the burden on administrations, empower employees, and offer citizens better services. Our goal: Merlin will become the leading AI provider for municipalities and public authorities in German-speaking countries. We have been supported by top-tier investors, business angels, and former top politicians since our pre-seed financing and already have more than 30 customers. Tasks This is a high-ownership role for engineers who want to build things from 0 → 1 and take on responsibility. A role for builders who want to learn how to maximize their output using AI tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc.). As a full-stack software engineer with us, you will work directly with the founders and shape the tech, product, and architecture from the ground up. You won't just write code—you'll decide what gets built and how it gets built. Our goal is to have a small, extremely strong core team with a very high impact. This isn't the right place for anyone who wants to hide behind processes or tickets. But it is the right place for anyone who wants to shape things. You should be interested in working on all parts of the product: today, optimizing the retriever on the RAG system for municipal knowledge bases; next week, rolling out a new feature for the multi-tenant customer dashboard; or developing a new tool for the voice agent. What you will do Design, build, and operate AI systems (e.g., conversational AI, RAG, agents, voice). Design, build, and operate scalable backend architectures for multi-tenant SaaS. Make fundamental technical decisions (cloud, data models, infrastructure, tooling). Own features and systems end-to-end – from the idea to productive use by customers Our tech stack (today) Python, TypeScript, Next.js Postgres, Docker, cloud infrastructure (Azure, StackIT) LiveKit, Langfuse, various LLM APIs, and vector databases Qualifications What makes you a good fit You have already built productive software (startup, scale-up, or similar) You think in terms of systems and enjoy architectural questions. You take responsibility and don't need close supervision. You are pragmatic, decisive, and see things through to completion. You have a genuine interest in AI engineering and its practical application. You speak very good German (at least C1), as we build for the public sector.
