Our research aims to uncover how RNA modifications regulate gene expression pathways and how these processes vary across cell types, sexes, and in response to immunotherapy. By integrating molecular biology with advanced computational approaches, we investigate how RNA regulation drives skin cancer progression, metastasis, and therapy resistance.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher (computational focus). Starting date is flexible but can be as early as August 2026. The position is fully funded for one year in the first instance, and the project’s funding is secured in principle for three years.
Your Tasks
In this role, you will play a central part in developing and applying cutting-edge computational methods to analyze complex datasets. A major focus will be the integration of nanopore-based direct RNA modification sequencing with multi-omics data, including spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. Your work will contribute to building comprehensive analytical frameworks to understand how RNA modifications influence tumor heterogeneity and treatment response.
You will be based at the DKFZ in Heidelberg and work in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment, closely interacting with molecular biologists, clinicians, and computational scientists.
This position offers an exceptional opportunity to apply advanced computational and bioinformatics methods to cutting-edge questions at the interface of RNA biology, cancer research, and precision medicine.
Your Profile
* Master’s degree (or equivalent) in bioinformatics, computational biology, systems biology, or a related field; PhD preferred
* Strong background in transcriptomics or other omics data analysis (R, Python, or similar)
* Interest in RNA biology, cancer, and molecular mechanisms of gene regulation
* Enthusiastic, independent, and collaborative working style
* Motivation to learn and adapt to scientific challenges and become a positive member of the team
