This position is unlimited and located in Munich.WHAT YOU'LL DOdesign, build, and maintain a reliable and sustainable cloud-based data platform to process large volumes of dataoptimise the solutions architecture and systems for performance, scalability, quality, and cost-efficiencycollaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data platform needs and deliver effective solutionsimplement solutions to support data governance and enable proper access controlautomate monitoring and troubleshooting to ensure high availability and reliability of the systemsconduct research and evaluate new technologies, tools, and best practicesdevelop custom code using robust software architecture and comprehensive test automation when open-source or third-party alternatives are not viablesupport team members and contribute to fostering a culture of learning and collaborationsupport users in understanding and utilising the data platform effectively, while troubleshooting and resolving reported issuesdefine team goals, set clear expectations, and ensure alignment with company objectives and business prioritiesmanage team capacity, assign resources effectively, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutionslead efforts to define and implement best practices for data platform development, governance, and operationsYOU COME WITHbachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field5+ years of experience in data platform engineering, software engineering, software architecture, or a similar role, with a focus on building scalable data platformsexperience in designing and implementing robust and sustainable solutions and software architecturesfluency in Python and SQL, with a strong understanding of software development best practicesstrong knowledge and hands-on experience with data manipulation, specifically with columnar databases (Snowflake is a plus)knowledge and hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS is desired)experience with containerisation (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes is desired)familiarity with the internals of workflow orchestration tools (Airflow) and data transformation frameworks (dbt)familiarity with real-time data processing and streaming platforms would be nice to haveclear communication, written and spoken, including fluency in Englishprevious leadership experience is valued, including mentoring, guiding, or leading a teamWHY WESTWINGAside from our awesome team and shared purpose we offer a variety of additional benefits.
