International Director (m/f/d) (P072)

Founded in the early 2000s in Berlin, Violence Prevention Network is one of Europe’s leading civil society organisations engaged in preventing and countering violent extremism. We work nationally and internationally, with over 120 practitioners, researchers and advisers in 10 regional offices across Germany and abroad. Our organisation works to ensure that people have the tools and resources available to reflect on and overcome their previous behaviour patterns. Our motto best summarises our unique, practice-oriented approach to preventing and countering violent extremism: We talk to extremists. Not about them. Hence, we are working directly with ideologically motivated individuals to enable them to live a life in which they do not harm themselves or others. Thousands of individual cases inform our knowledge of what works across the spectrum from (violent) far right to Islamist extremists and their journey to let go of hate and violence and embrace more democratic ways of thinking and acting. We know from experience that change is possible.

Internationally, Violence Prevention Network aims to share our approach and practice in other countries. We have formed partnerships with tech companies, governments, and practitioners to build an online-offline referral mechanism. We have created a forum for practitioner exchange called INDEX – International Network for Disengagement and Exit. We train practitioners and firstline professionals through the Violence Prevention Network Academy. And we are part of several consortia to deliver EU-funded projects.

Our vision is an active involvement of civil society to bringing about positive change in preventing and countering violent extremism. Policy informed by practical experience: connecting first line practitioners – their expertise and voices – is the key for effective engagement. This is why we build whole-of-society partnerships to prevention, disengagement, deradicalisation, rehabilitation and reintegration.

Regarding our international initiatives, we are looking for an „International Director” (m/f/d), full-time, based in Berlin or London with monthly business trips within Europe and several intercontinental trips per year (North America/Oceania/Central Asia/MENA region).
