Lead the design and implementation of a scalable knowledge graph solution (graph modeling, ontology design, relationship extraction, querying). Analyze structured and unstructured documents in various formats and define strategies to transform them into a knowledge graph. Design and implement data models for relational and graph databases. Architect and build robust ETL/ELT pipelines. Design and implement data quality controls for structured and semi-structured data sources. Design prompt strategies, embedding pipelines, vector store setup, and inference service orchestration. Conduct exploratory data analysis, experimentation, prototyping, and model evaluation. Develop and orchestrate Airflow DAGs and other ETL workflows. Implement CI/CD pipelines, Docker builds, image tagging, and automated testing. Ensure secure data handling (encryption, git-secret, secure development best practices). Create clear and structured technical documentation. Customer advisory responsibilities: Lead technical discussions with customer stakeholders to clarify requirements and translate business needs into scalable technical solutions. Propose architectural options and clearly communicate trade-offs. Advise customers on best practices, scalability, and long-term solution strategy. Act as a trusted technical partner and bridge between customer subject matter experts and COCUS team. Take ownership in ambiguous situations and proactively shape the solution direction. Several years of experience as a Data Engineer, Data Scientist, or AI Engineer in complex data environments. Strong experience designing and building knowledge graph solutions and solid understanding of applied graph theory. Proven track record of leading technical conversations with customers and acting as a solution advisor. Excellent practical knowledge of Python, especially Pydantic. Strong background in Airflow DAG development and orchestration. Strong practical knowledge of PostgreSQL, Neo4j & Cypher, Redis, and Celery. Experience with Docker Compose and building custom Docker images. Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines and automation processes. Experience working with local LLMs, embedding engineering, and vector stores. Experience with secure data handling practices. Strong analytical skills and experience with exploratory data analysis and rapid experimentation (Jupyter). Outstanding documentation skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proactive mindset, structured working style, and strong ownership mentality. Fluent German and English (written and verbal). Degree in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field. Experience in industrial or heavy industry environments.
