Overview
The Senior Director, Global Procurement - Automotive will lead a global team of sourcing & procurement managers and professionals to drive excellence in procurement strategy, cost optimization, and supplier innovation. This position demands a high level of engagement with Sensata’s key suppliers and executive leadership team. The Senior Director will be instrumental in influencing strategic decisions and aligning sourcing initiatives with broader business goals. The position will collaborate cross-functionally across engineering, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure continuity of supply, protect revenue, and navigate global regulatory and tariff challenges.
Responsibilities
* Directs cross company collaborations to promote the lowest total cost of ownership sourcing solutions/value proposition.
* Builds successful relationships internally and externally in order to execute strategy plans and identify key areas of improvement within the organization.
* Focuses on mitigating supply risks and enabling growth.
* Owns supplier selection and sourcing decisions, in collaboration with the category strategy team.
* Manages all VA/VE and cost optimization activities.
* Sourcing for suppliers when new business opportunities are won by the BU.
* Executes and revamps delivery, quality and cost issues where applicable.
* Carries full Procurement P&L responsibility for the Automotive Business Unit.
* Responsible for managers securing commercial terms with suppliers in line with company policies and compliance needs.
* Directs collaboration with functional areas to agree and secure sourcing suppliers, sourcing recommendations, supplier pool, selection criteria and event outcome criteria for the Automotive BU.
* Directs the continuous development of the Sourcing and Procurement function towards best practices in procurement and development.
* Advises and strongly influences the delivery of corporate-aligned procurement objectives supporting the total company strategic vision.
* Directs and influences implementing communication strategies to ensure accurate and timely flow of information to upper management, business partners, and suppliers.
* Directs cross-functional teams in supplier risk assessments, risk management and disaster recovery planning.
* Supports and represents Global Procurement in Business Unit meetings.
* Develops negotiation strategies and directs managers in negotiations and projects for cost reduction initiatives for the Automotive BU.
* Directs activities as required cross-functionally, including Planning, Engineering, Quality, Programs, Finance, Legal and Manufacturing concerning protection of the supply chain.
* Acts as the key contact point for the category’s supplier leadership team to protect supply.
* Develops performance metrics and drives initiatives to ensure goals are met and on schedule.
Experience / Qualifications
* A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
* Ability to lead, coach, and develop team members

* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
* Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
* Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

* Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
