General Position Description
We are seeking a
Quality Control Manager
to oversee project quality requirements in civil and structural construction. This position is based
on-site in Ramstein or Baumholder, Germany
.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all project quality standards and contract requirements. You will prepare and maintain daily quality control reports, manage subcontractors, and oversee the submittal process. You will also conduct quality phase meetings and perform regular field inspections to prevent non-conformance. A key aspect of this position is the ability to demonstrate leadership in quality management while promoting continuous process improvement throughout both the project and the company.
Responsibilities
* Ensure that all project activities comply with quality standards, contract specifications, and client requirements.
* Coordinate with the Project Manager to prepare daily reports and ensure that all deliverables are submitted on time.
* Collect, process, and analyze project data to support quality control decisions and provide clear documentation.
* Manage subcontractors effectively and oversee their quality-related responsibilities on the project.
* Prepare and maintain detailed daily quality control reports to track progress and compliance.
* Conduct regular quality meetings, accurately document discussions, and distribute meeting minutes in a timely manner.
* Review submittals, work plans, schedules, and testing procedures to verify that they meet all project requirements.
* Maintain the Non-Conformance Report Logs, track corrective actions, and report on trends and resolutions.
* Monitor project performance metrics and use this data to identify areas for continuous improvement.
* Verify that incoming materials and products meet specifications in terms of grade, quality, and timeliness.
* Support project startup by ensuring timely reviews, approvals, and coordination of all required documentation.
* Conduct frequent field inspections to confirm that workmanship and construction methods meet quality standards.
* Coordinate the availability of testing personnel, equipment, and laboratories to ensure compliance and accuracy.
* Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, inspectors, and project team members.
* Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase efficiency and profitability.
* Promote and enforce compliance with all safety policies and procedures across the project team and subcontractors.
Qualifications
* Current authorization to work in the EU (residence/work permit)
* Bachelor's Degree from an
accredited
college or university in civil engineering, architecture, construction management or equivalent:
* Five or more years of experience as a Quality Control Manager on similar projects related to this scope of work.
* Experience with submittal management
* Ability to read and understand contract drawings and specifications
* Strong verbal and written skills
* Excellent teamwork, communication, and people skills.
* Strong analytical capabilities.
* Solid time management system and excellent organizational skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
* Current USACE Construction Quality Control for Contractors certification
* Proficient in the Three Phases of Control Quality Management System utilized by USACE and other Federal Government Agencies
* Training in and experience with the USACE Resident Management System (RMS) 3.0
Physical Requirements
* Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crouching, kneeling, crawling or stretching
* Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
