As the Controllership Manager (m/f/d) - DACH at Honeywell in Offenbach, Germany, you will oversee the controllership function for a specific DACH Region (Germany & Austria), ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulations, driving the financial close process, developing accounting policies, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and leading and mentoring a team of controllership professionals. The Country Controller owns financial accounting & compliance for multiple legal entities across multiple countries, having end-to-end responsibility and oversight over statutory reporting.
The Controller reports into the Hub/Country Finance Leader responsible for the region and takes oversight of relationships to business finance, tax (incl. tax advisors), Treasury, etc. Other key partners of the Controllers team are internal and external auditors, Corporate Finance and Functional Management.
This is a hybrid role, 3 days at the office + 2 days work from home model.
Key responsibilities
1. Oversight & responsibility for accurately & timely filed statutory reporting for countries/entities in scope by multiple team members
2. Manage multiple direct reports, including remotely and any outsourced service providers supporting the above
3. Overall responsibility for accuracy of Statutory Financials per local GAAP, based on US-GAAP and act for escalation items in Statutory Audit as counterpart to external Audit firm
4. Ensure compliance with local statutory regulations/country requirements on books & record provisions
5. Responsible work rendered by direct reports to ensure deadlines, and high-quality standards are maintained
6. Pro-active partnering with internal stakeholders, including commercial finance, tax, treasury and legal on projects & overall finance compliance and continuous improvement
7. Oversight of Corporate Audits in the Country & collaboration with audit team to drive continuous improvement within controllership
8. Lead Mergers & Acquisitions and Divestitures related work for countries in scope from a statutory perspective and ensure local implications are known and put into perspective
Key skills and qualifications
9. Experienced people manager
10. Master’s degree in finance or equivalent in experience (preferably Accounting or Business Administration and/or consecutive qualification CPA/ACCA/WP/StB or equivalent)
11. Min. 7/8 years’ experience in a similar finance function
12. Profound communication skills in English and German is required (native/C1+)
13. In-dept knowledge of HGB and IFRS and/or US-GAAP required
14. Extensive experience in converting US-GAAP or IFRS reporting into different accounting standard(s)
15. Hands-on experience with a standard ERPs required (SAP desired)
16. Proficient in Standard Office Software (especially Excel)
17. Affinity to IT/Willingness to learn usage of specific IT-Tools
18. Understanding of legal, regulatory and compliance requirements
19. Experience with leading external audits or being the main point of contact for external audits – thorough understanding of the external audit process
20. Experience working within a matrix organization
21. Experience working with remote teams in a high-paced international environment
22. Initiative, positive attitude, self-starter, “getting-things-done” and “hands-on” attitude
23. Experience in inspiring a team with strong communication and excellent organizational skills
