We are looking for a Principal Scientist CHO Cells Media and Processes (xfm) for the Research and Development Advanced Therapy Solutions department at our sites in Ulm or Bielefeld at Sartorius Xell GmbH. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing the Technology Strategy Roadmap in the field of Cell Culture Media and CHO Cell Lines & Processes. This involves leveraging your expertise to generate and evaluate state-of-the-art knowledge for business potential, translating it into new and existing product or technology areas.
Our cross-functional team of cell culture professionals is eager to shape the future with you. This is a full-time position with a hybrid work model, requiring on-site presence in Bielefeld and occasionally in Ulm (or vice versa), with some days remote work possible.
Grow with us: Your Responsibilities
* Develop the strategy for our CHO upstream platform, especially for cell culture media and processes, aligned with our Product and Technology Roadmaps and long-term objectives.
* Design and lead tactical plans based on division and corporate strategy, advising program leads and senior leadership.
* Collaborate and influence internal and external expert committees internationally.
* Maintain technical relationships with CHO or media customers and research partners to ensure effective communication.
* Establish new collaborations and research programs.
* Ensure successful application of research projects in key technology areas.
* Advise a global team of senior scientists, managers, and product management.
* Evaluate, analyze, and present project results internally and externally.
* Represent Sartorius as a Key Opinion Leader and Subject Matter Expert in committees, conferences, panels, and consortia.
What will convince us
* PhD in Science, specializing in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related fields.
* Several years of industry experience focusing on CHO processes and media, with both practical and strategic expertise.
* Recognized expert (KOL/SME) with a proven record, including publications and patents.
* Industry experience and familiarity with Sartorius technology areas are essential.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; German is a plus.
* Ability to prioritize tasks, challenge systems, and work under pressure.
* Strong communication, stakeholder management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
* Willingness to travel approximately 25%.
