OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE
To take care of cable systems design and engineering. This includes the definition of technical solutions, in compliance with Customer requirements and with environment/ambient constraints and their optimization from both competitiveness and feasibility point of view. Activities involve the production of technical documentation for Customer and specifications for internal or sub-contractor’s use.
To liase and support the Lead System engineer, particularly representing the team on his behalf taking independent decisions on the team activities.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. In absence or when the Lead System Engineer is not available, to take independent decisions on Lead itself behalf ensuring continuity of the Team activities
2. To support the control of team activities delivering the Lead System Engineer a periodic update of team activities
3. To Support and train the System Engineers
4. Preparation of technical documentation for Customer and specifications for internal or sub-contractor’s use.
5. Participation to meetings with Customers’ representatives at all stages of the enquiry and contract to ensure compliance with Customers’ requirements, and Customer’s satisfaction
6. Production of detailed costing of all materials and services and production of the technical content to be submitted to Customers.
7. Support in the preparation of higher complexity documentation and design information for the manufacture of cable, accessories, and for cable installation activities.
8. Occasionally, work on details of specific aspects which are typically not completely defined at offer stage e.g. design of special parts, definition/coordination of qualification testing, design of prototypes, etc. This part includes the optimization of cable and system design, to reduce project costs.
9. Participation to technical presentations to Customers, to technical conferences, seminars and workshops.
10. Development of new calculation procedures and computer methods for determining product and system technical proposals and ensure that all calculation and working procedures comply with the necessary technical and quality standards and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:
11. Master Degree in Electrical Engineering (Thermal or Mechanical as second options)
12. Full proficiency in both written and spoken English and German
Minimum Experience:
13. 3 year specific experience in HVDC System Engineering,
14. Experience in design and engineering of High Voltage cables and systems and basic knowledge of the cable installation process.
15. Knowledge of design calculation methods and computer solutions and ability to develop and improve these through mathematics and computer programming (preference for knowledge of calculation tools based on Finite Elements Method)
16. Detailed understanding of relevant national and international standards
17. Ability to combine technical knowledge with communications and liaisons skills, both internally and with Customers representatives (both technical and commercial)
