New Contract Opportunity: Design-to-Cost (DtC) Manager / Value Engineering Expert (m/f/d)

Are you an expert in Design-to-Cost (DtC) and Value Engineering (VE), with a passion for driving cost optimization in complex technical projects? We are seeking a highly skilled DtC Manager / Value Engineering Expert to join an international defence and modernization programme. This exciting opportunity is based at the Altenstadt site and focuses on a power supply systems.
The primary goal of this role is to embed cost orientation within the product development process, ensuring a systematic approach to cost reduction while maintaining high levels of quality and functionality.
Key Responsibilities:
Implementation & Development of DtC Initiatives: Lead the DtC efforts within an ongoing development project, ensuring cost-effective solutions from the outset.
Cost Structure Management: Set up, maintain, and track target cost structures at product, system, and functional levels.
Cost Analysis: Perform detailed cost driver analyses, target/actual comparisons, and provide actionable insights to the team.
Facilitate DtC Workshops: Plan, facilitate, and document workshops focused on VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering), DFMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly), Target Costing, and other cost-reduction methodologies.
Evaluation of Technical Concepts: Assess product architectures and technical concepts from a cost, functionality, and manufacturability perspective.
Cost Reduction Measures: Develop, evaluate, and track the effectiveness of cost reduction measures throughout the project lifecycle.
Make-or-Buy and Supply Chain Analyses: Support key decision-making through cost-effective sourcing strategies.
Reporting & Communication: Provide regular updates on project status, key performance indicators (KPIs), and management reviews.
Technical Requirements (Must-Have):
Several years of experience in Design-to-Cost, Value Engineering, and Cost Management within complex technical environments.
Deep expertise in cost analysis of mechanical, electronic, and mechatronic systems.
Strong hands-on experience with DFMA, VA/VE, Target Costing, and Cost Modelling techniques.
Proven track record of cross-functional collaboration within product development processes (PDP/PEP).
Excellent analytical and communication skills to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams.
Fluent in German and English (business proficiency in both languages).
Nice-to-Have:
Experience with costing tools, particularly 4Cost.
Background in safety-critical or regulated industrial/defence projects.
Experience in moderating interdisciplinary workshops.
