Job Description
As the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO), you will play a pivotal role in driving our scientific vision and strategy forward. You will lead a small team of talented scientists and researchers, guiding them in the development of novel gene editing technologies and applications. Your expertise and leadership will be instrumental in shaping the direction of our research efforts, fostering innovation, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality scientific outcomes.
Responsibilities
1. Scientific Leadership: – Provide strategic direction and oversight for all scientific initiatives, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives. – Stay abreast of the latest advancements in gene editing technologies, genetic medicine, and related fields to inform decision-making and drive innovation. – Act as a key thought leader within the organization and the broader scientific community, representing the company at conferences, seminars, and industry events.
2. Research and Development: – Lead the design and execution of research programs focused on advancing gene editing technologies, including BASE and CRISPR-Cas systems, base editing, and other emerging platforms. – Collaborate cross-functionally with teams in molecular biology, bioinformatics, and bioengineering to optimize gene editing tools and methodologies for various applications. – Drive the translation of research findings into practical solutions, with a focus on therapeutic development and other commercial opportunities.
3. Team Management: – Recruit, mentor, and manage a team of scientists and researchers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence. – Provide guidance and support to team members, promoting their professional development and growth. – Cultivate a dynamic and inclusive work environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and scientific rigor.
4. Partnerships and Collaborations: – Identify and evaluate strategic partnerships, collaborations, and licensing opportunities to accelerate research and development efforts. – Foster productive relationships with academic institutions, research organizations, and industry partners to leverage complementary expertise and resources. – Negotiate and oversee collaborative agreements, ensuring alignment with company objectives and maximizing value for all stakeholders.
Required Skills
– Ph.D. or equivalent degree in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or a related field. A strong background in gene editing technologies is highly desirable. – Proven track record of leadership and innovation in scientific research, with significant experience in a relevant industry or academic setting. – Demonstrated expertise in gene editing methodologies, including TALEN systems, genome engineering, and gene therapy. – Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex scientific concepts effectively to diverse audiences. – Strong organizational and project management abilities, with a focus on driving results and meeting deadlines. – Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and foster productive partnerships.
