The Industrial Sales Engineer is responsible for driving new OEM business and accelerating the growth of Custom Photonics Solutions across Europe. The role includes proactive market and customer development, lead qualification, and the translation of complex customer requirements into tailored photonics solutions in close collaboration with Thorlabs' global business units, engineering teams, and sales organizations. This position owns the development of key customer relationships, the identification of high-potential markets, and the execution of targeted sales campaigns to achieve sustainable revenue growth in Europe. Identify and develop new markets, customers, and OEM projects, as well as new opportunities within existing accounts, to achieve European growth targets for Custom Photonics Solutions Proactively lead business development and sales initiatives across Europe, including strategic account planning and targeted campaigns Technically qualify customer requirements and lead cross-functional teams to deliver customized photonics solutions Act as Key Account Manager for selected strategic customers across the full sales and project lifecycle Serve as the primary customer interface and represent customer interests internally within Thorlabs Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Operations, and global teams to drive execution Provide market insights, support process improvements, and contribute to R&D and marketing strategy Own sales forecasting, CRM pipeline management, and represent Thorlabs at trade shows and key customer visits 5+ years of account management in an outside Sales or Technical Sales role, with demonstrated proactive and positive approach Degree in Physics or other Photonics related discipline Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external customers Good knowledge of full range of Thorlabs products and capabilities worldwide Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Strong data analysis and reporting skills; must be comfortable with presenting concepts to a large audience Flexible working hours (arranged individually), 30 days of vacation, mobile work Company pension scheme & health insurance options Support for your personal development and career growth Wide range of health and sports activities (Urban Sports Club, company runs, etc.) Leasing options (JobRad) Free charging stations for e-bikes and electric cars Option to take a time-out Annual company events and social activities At THORLABS, we don't just accept differences – we support them, we celebrate them, and we rely on them to strengthen our people, our community, and our products.
