Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced HR Business Partner on a 12-month fixed-term contract to join our Essen office. In this role, you’ll serve as a trusted partner to business leaders and employees, with a particular focus on managing and delivering our Betriebliches Eingliederungsmanagement (BEM) – Workplace Integration Management program. You will help employees reintegrate after illness or injury, ensuring compliance with German employment laws, fostering a supportive workplace, and maintaining TELUS Digital’s culture of care and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the Betriebliches Eingliederungsmanagement (BEM) process from initiation to completion, ensuring legal compliance under §167 SGB IX.
* Serve as the primary contact for employees returning from long-term absence, facilitating conversations between employees, management, occupational health, and works council representatives.
* Develop and implement individualized reintegration plans, focusing on sustainable return-to-work solutions and workplace adjustments.
* Partner with managers and senior leadership on employee relations, workforce planning, and talent development.
* Advise leadership on HR best practices, policies, and legislation relevant to German labour law.
* Analyze absence trends and BEM outcomes, recommending initiatives to improve wellbeing and reduce long-term sickness rates.
* Drive employee engagement initiatives aligned with TELUS Digital’s values, culture, and strategic objectives.
* Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of all BEM cases according to regulatory and company guidelines.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
* Proven experience as an HR Business Partner or similar HR role in Germany, with hands-on knowledge of BEM processes and German labour law.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
* Demonstrated ability to develop trust and rapport across multiple stakeholder groups, including employees, managers, works councils, and health professionals.
* Excellent organizational and case management skills with strong attention to detail.
* Proficient in German (native or fluent), with strong written and verbal communication skills; English proficiency is an asset.
* Ability to work independently within a fast-paced, agile environment while keeping a collaborative mindset.
