Advisor Anticipatory Action*
in Berlin /Bonn
The position is to be filled by May 1, 2026, with a contract duration until 30.04.2029. Employment location will be Berlin or Berlin, Germany.
We are looking to fill several positions for this role, either on a full-time basis (100%) or part-time basis (75%).
AA advisors serve as focal points for all program related questions of country offices and partner organizations in regards to Anticipatory Action and AAP development. They coordinate the technical state-of-the-art support for developing context-appropriate AAPs, streamline WAHAFA approaches across countries, organizations and hazards, and facilitate the support of other TAHAT experts, in particular during the Build phase. In general the goal is to support to develop and validate partners Anticipatory Action Plans (AAP).
Your responsibilities
1. Support for partner organizations to develop community-led, context appropriate and long lasting anticipatory AA mechanisms
2. Serving as focal point between project teams of partner organizations, PMU & TAHAT as well as the WAHAFA and broader AHA network
3. Driving the scale-up and further development of WHH’s anticipatory approaches for multiple hazards and existing WAHAFA partners and AAPs
4. Overseeing the feasibility and capacity of partner organizations to implement AHA in participating project regions for specific hazards
5. Facilitating onboarding and supporting workshops and learning exchanges for partner organizations and other stakeholders
6. Ensuring institutionalization, mainstreaming and country ownership of existing AAPs
7. Assuring state-of-the-art approaches to develop AA mechanisms, including remaining on top of technical, scientific, ethical, and programmatic debates around Anticipatory Action
8. Support the coordination of the WAHAFA Build application and the AAP validation process with WAHAFA partners and interested INGOs, facilitating and coordinating the feedback process of concept notes and applications
9. Support the coordination TAHAT involvement in the application and Build process
10. Representing WAHAFA/WHH in external fora, working groups, and networks related to AA, localization, and capacity sharing
Your profile
11. A university degree in a relevant field like social science, humanitarian action, disaster risk management, geography or similar
12. At least three to five years of professional experience in (anticipatory) humanitarian action
13. Experience in development of anticipatory action plans, conducting vulnerability assessments, and applying participatory methods
14. Experience in the further development and localization of forecasting and anticipation methods for weather-related and non-weather-related hazards
15. You recognize the growing value of data in your field and are eager to build your awareness and skills to incorporate data-informed approaches into your work.
16. Willingness to work in countries where Welthungerhilfe or program partners are implementing or supporting anticipatory action projects
17. Willingness and flexibility to travel to project countries
18. Very good English and French language skills
