A well-established and growing civil engineering consultancy are seeking an General Manager to lead it’s operations in Frankfurt. This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to shape the performance and culture of a high-performing office, ensuring efficient operations, quality project delivery, and ongoing business growth.
About the Role
The General Manager will oversee all operational, technical, and strategic activities within the Frankfurt office. You’ll be responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams, managing financial performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and developing client relationships. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership experience, deep knowledge of the German construction industry, and a commitment to engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Leadership
* Manage day-to-day operations and align them with overall business objectives.
* Drive business development to support growth and market visibility in the region.
* Coordinate with central HR, IT, and admin functions to ensure smooth operations.
* Ensure full compliance with German regulations and internal policies.
* Develop and maintain processes and procedures to improve efficiency and quality.
* Maintain a safe and compliant workplace environment.
* Produce regular performance reports and actionable insights.
Project & Technical Oversight
* Lead the delivery of engineering projects to meet quality, time, and budget targets.
* Monitor workflows and resource allocation, resolving technical challenges as needed.
* Maintain and enforce high technical standards across all project work.
* Support engineering teams with scheduling, documentation, and coordination.
Financial Management
* Take full ownership of office financial performance, including budgeting and forecasting.
* Monitor project profitability and implement cost controls where necessary.
People Leadership
* Inspire and manage a diverse team of engineers, project managers, and support staff.
* Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management.
* Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and accountable team culture.
* Support employee development and promote continuous improvement.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
* Build and maintain strong client relationships across public and private sectors.
* Support contract negotiations and lead key stakeholder engagements.
* Represent the consultancy at local and national industry events and meetings.

* Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
* Fluent in both German and English (native or near-native level).
* Understanding of local regulations, employment law, and engineering standards.
* Existing industry contacts and experience supporting business development.
* Ability to represent company services confidently to clients and stakeholders.
