What you will do
* Driving innovative AI research through the development and implementation, practical application, theoretical analysis and evaluation of AI algorithms
* Use of XAI tools to explain machine learning models
* Implementation of deep learning
* Improvement of models, e.g. in terms of efficiency, training performance or inference behavior
What you bring to the table
* Enrolled Bachelor's/Master's student in full-time studies in the fields of computer science, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering or related courses with good to very good grades
* Programming experience, especially good to very good knowledge of Python
* Experience with machine learning, in particular with neural networks and their implementation (PyTorch, TensorFlow or similar)
* Motivation and Initiative
* Residence in Berlin and the surrounding area, as the position is carried out exclusively on-site to enable close collaboration
* Interest in Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI); potential topics include, among others (feel free to reference in your cover letter):
o XAI for Computer Vision (in particular object detection and semantic segmentation models)
o Spiking Neural Networks
o Neuromorphic Architectures
o Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) and Operator Learning
o Data Attribution Methods
o Method development in the areas of: local feature attribution, global and mechanistic interpretability

The position is initially limited to 1 year. An extension is explicitly desired.
The monthly working time is 80 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
