We are working with a leading semiconductor company seeking a Principal MMIC Design Engineer to join their experienced European Design Centre in Munich. This role offers the opportunity to work on advanced RF and mmWave products for high-performance communications applications.
The Opportunity:
As a Principal MMIC Design Engineer, you will take technical ownership of the full MMIC design lifecycle, developing high-power, high-efficiency circuits across the mmWave frequency bands. You will work closely with process engineering and applications teams to ensure product excellence and innovation leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
* Full lifecycle MMIC design from initial concept through to validation and production support.
* High-frequency Power Amplifier (PA) design, including Doherty architectures and harmonic tuning techniques.
* Circuit simulation, layout supervision, PCB design, and thermal management analysis (ICEPACK experience advantageous).
* Semiconductor process evaluation and design optimisation across multiple foundries.
* Hands-on lab measurements, debugging, and performance validation.
Ideal Profile:
* Extensive experience in RF/mmWave PA and MMIC design, ideally up to 90GHz (V-/E-band).
* Strong background in high-power, high-efficiency amplifier development using GaN and/or GaAs technologies.
* Skilled in industry-standard design tools such as ADS, AWR, HFSS, and EM simulation software.
* MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or a closely related field.
* Proven track record of success in a senior engineering capacity, preferably at a Principal MMIC Design Engineer level.
* Publications, patents, or major conference presentations are a strong advantage.
