Software Engineer for Quantum Computing
Parity Quantum Computing GmbH
(Hamburg/ Innsbruck, Full time, m/w/x)
What we do
At ParityQC, we are shaping the future of quantum computing as the first Quantum Architecture Company. Our revolutionary Parity-Architecture enables scalable, fully programmable, and parallelizable quantum chips, solving complex industry challenges and unlocking the full potential of current hardware platforms. Together with our operating system, ParityOS, we are redefining how quantum technology tackles real-world problems.
About the job
We are seeking a Software Engineer for Quantum Computing to join our dynamic Use-Case Department, collaborating closely with our diverse team of Quantum Physicists and Quantum Software Engineers. In this role, you will play a key part in the development of the ParityQC use-case software stack—a unique framework designed for developing and testing quantum algorithms on noisy quantum hardware.
You will gain hands-on experience across the entire quantum computing stack, from high-level software design to hardware-specific instructions. As you integrate cutting-edge quantum methods into our core product, ParityOS, you will tackle exciting and complex coding challenges, bridging the gap between quantum algorithms and classical software.
Your tasks
As a Software Engineer for Quantum Computing, you will play a pivotal role in developing a cutting-edge software product for quantum algorithm development. Working with a rapidly growing codebase, you will integrate diverse tools into a unified framework, driving innovation and collaboration across quantum and classical domains.
Your responsibilities will include implementing quantum algorithms and designing the necessary tools for their development from scratch. By ensuring the maintainability, performance, and usability of the software stack, you will directly contribute to the advancement of quantum computing technology.
This role offers a unique opportunity to tackle challenges at the intersection of quantum and classical computing. As part of our world-class international team of experts, you will gain deep insights into quantum computing, allowing you to grow professionally while shaping the future of this groundbreaking field.
Required Skills & Experience
* Master’s degree in Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field.
* Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in software development.
* Strong programming skills, with a particular focus on Python.
* High level of curiosity and a proactive attitude towards solving complex, unfamiliar problems.
* Ability to work independently and take initiative.
* Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
* Background in quantum physics (useful but not required).
* Experience with additional programming languages such as Rust or C++.
* Familiarity with high-performance computing (HPC).
* Knowledge of agile software development practices.
What we offer
We are a spin-off working in one of the most exciting emerging technology fields. There are no long-time proven concepts on what we are doing – we need to invent everything from scratch, and we are therefore able to shape a whole new generation of computing. ParityOS is the first fully cloud-based operating system for quantum computers. We are pioneers in this field and develop the blueprints for the upcoming generations. Thus, the position also offers the possibility to conduct research and publish in peer-reviewed journals. Furthermore, we offer an appealing work environment with an international, motivated team and the flexibility to partially work from home.
