Overview
Director Medical Affairs (Germany) in Cepheid’s Infectious Disease Medical and Scientific Affairs group. This position is remote in Germany and covers the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). The role reports to Medical/Scientific Affairs and focuses on engaging with the medical/scientific community, generating evidence to expand Cepheid product applications, and supporting the product pipeline with scientific insights.
Responsibilities
* Participate in scientific meetings to engage Senior KOLs, healthcare providers and customers.
* Demonstrate conceptual and practical expertise in infectious disease, clinical microbiology, and related disciplines.
* Serve as a resource to the medical/scientific community including emergency and infectious disease clinicians, OB/GYNs, laboratory personnel, infection control, pharmacists and researchers.
* Develop and maintain an understanding of the Global Health environment relevant to diagnostic needs.
* Establish and maintain a broad network of contacts within relevant stakeholder communities.
* Engage and collaborate with researchers on independent studies to generate new evidence, drive new applications, and expand Cepheid’s footprint.
* Work independently with guidance on more complex problems; gain expertise in molecular diagnostics applications.
* Maintain knowledge of relevant scientific literature, clinical practice guidelines, and emerging healthcare trends.
* Identify research gaps; support sponsored clinical trials, investigator-initiated research, Advisory Boards and Focus Groups to assist Marketing in product development.
* Communicate insights from the medical/scientific community about unmet clinical or diagnostic needs and provide scientific input on product design, development, and implementation.
Essential requirements
* Medical Degree (MD) with specialization in infectious diseases, microbiology or infection prevention and control; 8+ years of related work experience. Other clinical fields may be considered if there is sufficient infectious disease familiarity.
* Strong scientific writing with publications and excellent communication skills; national/international speaking experience.
* Proven ability to present medical/technical information concisely to diverse audiences; strong organizational and problem-solving skills; experience in multicultural and matrix environments.
* Fluency in German; excellent English communication and presentation skills.
* Ability to travel (approximately 60% regional and some international travel).
Desirable
* 3+ years Medical and Scientific Affairs experience.
* Experience coordinating and managing diagnostics studies in infectious diseases in Germany.
* Clinical trials management to meet project deliverables.
* Biostatistics.
* Regulatory familiarity for on-market diagnostics.
