Job Description
Marketing Director Cell Therapy (m/f/d)
Gilead/Kite is a research-based biopharmaceutical company that is committed to discover, develop and commercialize innovative therapeutics in the areas of unmet medical needs. Haematology-Oncology is one of our key therapeutic areas for future growth. Kite is a 100% Gilead company and fully dedicated on cell therapy with a mission focused on cure.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and experienced marketer to join Gilead/Kite as a Director Marketing Cell Therapy (m/f/d) in the German affiliate. This newly created position will be based in Martinsried, München and report into the Senior Business Unit Director Cell Therapy (Kite).
The successful candidate will lead a highly motivated marketing team and be responsible for the development of the marketing/ commercial strategy, the implementation of marketing activities according to budget and embark on preparatory activities for future product launches. The Marketing Director is part of the Cell-Therapy Leadership Team and closely liaises with other functions to drive cross-functional planning and coherent implementation of strategy.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Leads the Marketing team for Cell Therapy and drives advancement of the unit’s marketing capabilities with a focus on development of competencies, state-of-the-art tools and processes.
2. Leads the cross-functional Cell Therapy Brand Team to develop marketing strategy and initiatives ensuring cross-functional alignment and cohesion.
3. Is core member of the German Cell Therapy leadership team supporting execution excellence across functions.
4. Generates relevant market insights, establishes adequate performance indicators and forecasts demand and portfolio performance, in close collaboration with Business Analytics.
5. Sets clear objectives for marketing initiatives, measures progress and success, and generates relevant learnings.
6. Tightly connects with the Sales team to ensure optimal execution of marketing campaigns and usage of field team’s insights for campaign development.
7. Leads the implementation of annual Brand Plan to ensure defined tactics are implemented according to schedule and budget for maximal impact.
8. Drives team towards omnichannel thinking and use, builds customer journeys and leverages innovative technologies such as next best action.
9. Develop effective working relationships and effective engagement plans with experts and other key stakeholders to strengthen Gilead/Kite’s position within the hematology market.
10. Ensures optimal allocation of marketing resources, both personnel and expenses, and diligently manages budget.
11. Ensures all marketing activities comply with all legal and regulatory requirements.

12. Strong strategic thinking skills with ability to see the big picture and to formulate and execute strategy
13. Proven leadership skills with an ability to set a vision, to inspire, to champion change, drive innovative thinking and influence across functions as well as excellent communication skills to develop robust professional relationships both orally and in writing; high language proficiency in German and English required
14. Demonstrated strong people leadership competences, as well as lateral leadership to foster collaboration at eye-level and create followership.
15. Strong project management abilities with demonstrated track record of leading cross-functional teams
16. Good analytical skills, business acumen and feeling for numbers, demonstrated by the ability to identify and understand complex issues and then developing respective business cases or appropriate cross-functional solutions.
17. Strong pharmaceutical market expertise, particularly with regards to health economy, access and reimbursement, product lifecycle, as well as relevant laws and regulations applicable in the creation/approval of marketing materials.
18. Self-starter mentality, taking personal ownership. Ability to navigate through ambiguity, remain focused and prioritize carefully.
19. Able to travel up to 20% of time.
Specific education and knowledge requirements
20. At least 10-year expertise in the pharmaceutical industry, thereof 5 years in a Marketing role including product launches; previous experience in field roles being a plus.
21. Undergraduate Degree in Life Sciences, Business Administration (specialization in Marketing) or equivalent
22. Strong Marketing experience required, including digital marketing
23. High proficiency in using Microsoft Office products as well as strong presentation creation skills
24. High Fluency in German and English, both orally as well as in writing.
