Overview
Our client is a fast-growing Hamburg-based alternative credit boutique managing over €300 million across UCITS and AIF strategies. The firm focuses on event-driven and special-situations credit across European markets — including subordinated, hybrid, convertible bonds, and distressed opportunities. The firm partners with institutional investors such as banks, family offices, and pension funds and is now expanding its trading capabilities.
The Role
* The firm is creating its first in-house trading desk and seeks a Junior Credit Trader to become the founding member of this function. The role offers direct exposure to the Founder & CIO, hands-on execution across European credit markets, and a path toward portfolio management.
* Responsibilities
* Execute trades across corporate bonds, leveraged loans, and distressed securities in European credit markets
* Maintain relationships with major sell-side credit desks and voice brokers
* Optimise execution on electronic platforms (Bloomberg, MarketAxess, Tradeweb)
* Provide daily market color and liquidity insights to the investment team
* Monitor event-driven situations (restructurings, M&A, liability management)
* Manage trade lifecycle: execution, confirmation, settlement, reconciliation
* Contribute to building trading infrastructure and ensure BaFin compliance
Candidate Profile
* 2–3 years’ experience in credit trading, sales, or execution at an investment bank or asset manager
* Deep knowledge of European corporate bond markets; experience with hybrid, subordinated, or distressed instruments a plus
* Proficiency with Bloomberg Terminal and electronic trading platforms; strong Excel skills
* Entrepreneurial, analytical, and decisive under pressure with strong attention to detail
