Have you ever wanted to build a locomotive? Then join us our System Engineering department as VIE - System Engineer in Mannheim
Your future role
As a system engineer, you are responsible for designing locomotive systems including subsystem interaction and subsystem functions. Since a train is a complex assembly of mechanical, electrical and electronic components, the main task of the system engineer is to develop a system that meets customer requirements, covers standards and regulations and makes maximum use of Alstom’s standard components.
The system engineer has multiple interfaces within the organization such as a link to the project engineer to understand the customer expectations, to the detailed design departments for the creation of schematics and physical integration. Also a close collaboration with the software development for the implementation of the functional requirements. After that the system engineer interacts with the authorization engineers to get the locomotive authorized in all required countries.
We’ll look to you for:
* Analysis, consolidation and definition of assigned requirements at vehicle and subsystem level
* Elaboration of concepts and designs, coordinated with the team to find the most suitable architecture that meets the needs and requirements
* Creation of functional specifications including derived requirements for electrical architecture, train control (software) and subsystems
* Subsystem integration through technical requirements documentation, hardware and software interface management, type testing
* Support in the validation of the functional design including the creation of test specifications
* Support testing in laboratories as well as on the vehicle
* Manage configurations and changes to ensure baseline integrity
All about you
We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:
* Master’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
* Experience or understanding of system engineering principles
* Knowledge of relevant norms and standards would be beneficial
* Familiarity with model-based development would be beneficial
* DOORS or similar system engineering tool certification would be beneficial
* Fluent in English; German language skills are a plus
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Good communication, collaboration, and intercultural skills
* A proactive, autonomous, and positive mindset
* Curious for the product and its development
Even if you don’t know everything, you’re ready to learn further by yourself as well as in a network with others to improve your competencies and, on your strongest competencies, to advise and train others.
